- The Silence of the Lambs
The silence of the lambs have a certificate of 18. From the user ratings you can see that under 18's are the most people to watch the film. Due to the user ratings I think the certifcate should be go to a 15 as there the people that have voted the most. But the contents that is in the film should be aimed at a 18 only.
- black swan
The Black Swan has a certificate of 15. The most people that have voted for the Black Swan is males under 18. So they have targeted this film correctly and are apealing to the correct audience.
- The Machinist 15.
The machinist has a certificate of a 15. From the user ratings you can see that there is a variery in audience; females ages 18-29, females under 18, males under 18 and aged under 18 all have the same votes. So from looking at the ratings you can see that the target audience goes from under 18- 29.
- Memento
The Memento has a certificate of a 15. The user ratings show you that people aged under 18 are viewing the film the most. Which means the film is getting the target audience correct and is appealing to the right people. We have decided to go with the target audience of 15 as it is only Suitable for 15 years and over
No one younger than 15 may see a‘15’ film in a cinema. No one younger than 15 may rent or buy a ‘15’ rated video work. As we have chosen a 15 it means that The work as a whole must not endorse discriminatory language or behaviour. There cannot be any promottion or encourage drug misuse, thereofore drugs are not aloud to be used. The misuse of easily accessible and highly dangerous substances (for example, aerosols or solvents) is unlikely to be acceptable.Strong threat and menace are permitted unless sadistic or sexualised. Dangerous behaviour (for example, hanging, suicide and self-harming) should not dwell on detail which could be copied. Easily accessible weapons should not be glamorised. There may be frequent use of strong language (for example, ‘shit’). The strongest terms (for example, ‘cunt’) may be acceptable if justified by the context. Aggressive or repeated use of the strongest language is unlikely to be acceptable. Nudity may be allowed in a sexual context but without strong detail. There are no constraints on nudity in a non-sexual or educational context. Sexual activity may be portrayed without strong detail. There may be strong verbal references to sexual behaviour, but the strongest references are unlikely to be acceptable unless justified by context. Violence may be used but should not dwell on the infliction of pain or injury. The strongest gory images are unlikely to be acceptable. Strong sexualised violence is also unlikely to be acceptable. There may be detailed verbal references to sexual violence but any portrayal of sexual violence must be discreet and have a strong contextual justification. In our film we have not gone over any of the 15 certificate rules and regulations, I think I 12 is to young to certifcate it at but an 18 is too high as there is no violite content or sexual relations, therefore rating our film 15 is perfect.
The film represents issues such as age and gender as we have not gone with the conventions of the typical female being the one in danger. It is important to know who the audience for your film is as then you can produce the film to fit around your audience and have things in it that relate to the target audience. The target research is to show the target audience i am trying to achieve and the target audience is aimed at teenagers ages 15-19. We have chosen this as the most people to watch the films are this aged. To aim it at the percific audience then we have to create an effect that will make them want to watch it. The story line and opening titles have to be good to make them watch on.
